Whether you live in the suburbs or city proper, life in Greater Boston is a treat. It’s no surprise that Boston, one of the principal cities of Greater Boston, ranks high in livability rankings. A world-class metropolitan area, Greater Boston has a rich history, a celebrated culture, and an enviable social scene. Additionally, the area houses many ivy colleges and universities. In short, Greater Boston is one of the best regions to live in the United States. Following are some of the things to expect while living in Greater Boston.

A lot of walking

Now don’t get me wrong! Greater Boston has a pretty good transportation system which includes the subway, ferries, commuter rail, and bus. The reason I’m saying that you can expect a lot of walking in Greater Boston is because the area has a lot of walking trails and is best seen on foot. Also, many people in Greater Boston, especially those in Cambridge, walk to work. In fact, with a walk score of 86.91, Cambridge was ranked as the 3rd best city in the United States for walking to work. Having a history of walking, Greater Boston features a 2.5-mile-long historic path called the Freedom Trail. To further promote the walking culture, trails are being created to connect Boston Harbor to its surrounding neighborhoods.

Many Sporting Events

Bostonians are mad about sports. This is one of the reasons the area is a buzz with sporting events throughout the year. Some of the events held during the year have existed for many a year. Sporting events that have captivated Bostonians for years or decades include the Boston Marathon, Head of the Charles rowing competition and Beanpot Hockey Tournament.

Historically significant places

The history of Greater Boston is a significant part of the U.S history. Called my many as the birthplace of the American Revolution, Greater Boston has a lot of historically significant places. For instance, Bunker Hill, the place where the first battle of the American Revolution took place, is present in Charlestown in Boston city. In addition to the Bunker Hill site, Greater Boston is home to the John F. Kennedy Library, the Granary burying ground, the African meeting- house, the Black Heritage Trail, the Freedom Trail and USS Cassin Young.

Shopping galore

Greater Boston is great for two things: food and shopping. Whether you want the latest design of a famed international brand or are looking for something unique to the area, you can get what you want in Greater Boston without travelling far. In every nook and corner of the area, you will find shopping centers that house both local designs and famous international brands.

Life in Greater Boston is a treat and the aforementioned things are a revealer of this. Greater Boston is where you need to be if you have a fascination for sports, shopping, walking or historical sites.
